In 2023, 896 yachts between 400 and 4,999 GT calling at EU ports emitted an estimated 1.45 million tonnes of CO₂ — 1.1% of all shipping emissions monitored under the EU MRV system that year. Non-commercial yachts still fall outside the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS).
These figures cover a broader category (400–4,999 GT) than the ≥60 m fleet tracked here — not a direct comparison with the figures elsewhere on this site.
